Glorious weather, no knitting .....

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Well, that's not entirely correct! Some knitting was produced last week and over the weekend. I sold a dark blue based beanie the week before and it looked so good I re-jiggled what I'd done for that one (no two beanies the same!)and so finished another one that just needs sewing up.

I found this sparkly Jazz type wool at Spotlight a couple of weeks ago and thought it would make a sophisticated hat - had a couple of go's deciding which ratio of sparkly to black would work but finally decided this one looks best.

This is a shot of the top!

Last week I also found some wool at Fran's Wild & Woolly shop in Devonport (great shop - fabulous range of wool and colours!) which knits up like a fair isle pattern ....

So I made this little number for a 12 month old and also a litle newborn size and then decided I needed to pop a pair of bootees with the newborn as I've realised from selling at the market that people like to buy sets of things! But do you think I could find a colour in 4 ply that looked OK with any of these colours? Finally found something that will work but only after haunting a few shops.

And here's this week's Issie photo. She's having a reading lesson .....

Great weather for knitting

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Saturday was such a beautiful day in Auckland. Too lovely to stay inside and knit so I sat outside and did it!! I had this commissioned beanie I was intent on finishing although in hindsight had I left it until yesterday it was definitely more of a "sit on the couch and knit" day. I did leave sewing all the ends in until Sunday and look who was helping me!

I found these stunning buttons the other week - the little ones with the glittery stuff on them are the most exquisite dusty pink colour. I think it's called ashes of roses.

Plus look at these - soccer ball buttons!! Just in time for the World Cup.

And here's Issie's contributions ... I'll leave you to guess which photo was taken on which day.

Lazy weekend

Sunday, May 16, 2010

Not much knitting achived last week or this weekend - too many other things to do. Managed to make a couple of pairs of pumpkin bootees and that was about it. Very unusual for me!!

The buttons on the pink pair are so cute - they have little white polka dots on them. And the ones on the cream pair are made out of coconut shells.

Here's Issie's weekly photo which really should be titled "look, I'm hiding" ....

And now I'm not ...

Just one more row ......

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Sound familiar??? This sentence causes major hassles in our house, as I am the designated cook and, as I work fulltime, my knitting time and meal prep time tend to happen together, causing a hungry husband and dinners that more often than not are later than they should be....

Last week dinner was delayed as I knitted this sweet little set. I found the buttons first - they look a bit like crazed china - and then worked the charcoal and creamy white around them!

I was asked via my Felt shop if I could knit a pair of bootees for someone who is Lord of The rings/Hobbit mad ... I wasn't too sure how they'd turn out (hairy feet and all that) but I think they look cute ....

And then I used a bit of the leftover wool to knit bootees fit for a ballerina baby.

And this wouldn't be complete without an Isabella photo - I read in the weekend that Isabella was the most popular girls name in the USA last year. We must be trend setters as our Isabella is 6 years old .....
I think this photo should be called "Spot The Cat".

Market Day

Monday, May 3, 2010

Sunday was such a beautiful day and we had lots of people through the market. I set my stall up with my finger getting in the way! and also managed to knit half a bootee .... Last week my sum total of knitting was that pair of bootees - normally just half a evening's worth!@#$%

Took some photo's of the other stalls as well this month.

And here's the latest photo of Isabella. I swear we do not I repeat do not arrange the blankie around her - she always manages to climb inside very tidily - must take after me !!
